Danang is in the middle of the country on the north – south road, rail, sea and air routes. It marks the halfway point between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The city was the landing point of both the French and the Americans during their stints in Vietnam. On the regional and international scale, the city is considered to be the most convenient deep-water port in the region, one of the important gateways of the Central Highlands of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar to the sea and Northeast Asian nations via the East-West Economic Corridor linking Tien Sa Seaport as an ending point.

Danang has an area of 1,255.53 square kilometers. Mountains and hills cover most of the territory including Hoang Sa Island district with an area of 305 square kilometers. The city’s weather is a combination of climatic features of northern and southern Vietnam, with the northern having the more distinct influence. There are two seasons. The wet season lasts from Aug to Dec and the dry from Jan to July. Cold spells are occasional in winter but they are not severe and are short.

Danang is situated in the middle of the 3 world cultural heritage sites including Hue, Hoi An and My Son. This is the place for welcoming, serving and being the entrepot for tourists. In addition, the city itself has lots of other attractive spots, especially Son Tra Peninsula, which is home to some of the region's most spectacular beaches, rare flora and fauna and offers exellent fishing. Beach is the most memorable and attractive feature of Danang. The water is clean and warm but very long stretches of shallow beach comparision to others nearby. Forbes magazine ranks Vietnam’s China Beach, more locally known as Danang Beach, as one of the most luxurious beach destinations in the world.
