Independent suspension system allows each wheel on the trailer to move vertically, reacting to a bump on the road independent of the other wheels. In this system there is no transfer of impacts from one side of the trailer to the other, the wheels remain vertical throughout their travel and there is a greater range of movement available. This type of suspension system offers many advantages over other suspension systems such as increasing the serviceability of the system in the event of a breakdown. For those traveling offroad the lack of a cross-vehicle axle beam can also provide ground clearance advantages.
